Hot Apple Cider

A warmer drink to sip during the colder weather, hot apple cider is a sweet and healthy substitute for hot chocolate. It is also an easy drink for different sized groups.


Ingredients:     6 cups apple cider

1/4 cup real maple syrup

2 cinnamon sticks

6 whole cloves

6 whole allspice berries

1 orange peel, cut into strips

1 lemon peel, cut into strips


Baked Apple Pie Dumplings

Although this might be a little more complex to make, these dumplings are a perfect serving size for everyone at your holiday parties and dinners. They are a warm, traditional, delicious dessert with a twist. Topping these dumplings off with a scoop of ice cream could make them even better.


Ingredients:     2 golden delicious apples

3 tablespoons granulated white sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

½ teaspoon cornstarch

2 sheets puff pastry

1 egg white beaten


Cinnamon Pull Apart

Cinnamon is the perfect taste for the holidays and pull apart bread is an easy dessert to share if the guests are not worried about making a cinnamon and sugar mess.


Ingredients:     3 cans (7.5 oz. each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) Cream Cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 Tbsp. milk


3-Ingredient Peppermint Bark

This is the easiest recipe, with only three ingredients. Bark styled desserts are simple to make and share with others.


Ingredients:     2 ½ cups dark chocolate baking chips (from 20-oz package)
1 package (16 oz) vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark), chopped
24 red and white hard peppermint candies, crushed (2/3 cup crushed)


Pancake Breakfast Casseroles

When you’re excited for the Christmas day or just need a special breakfast during the break, a pancake breakfast casserole puts an interesting spin on the traditional pancake and casserole.


Ingredients:     4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for greasing the dish and serving
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons sugar
Kosher salt
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
7 large eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Maple syrup and blueberries, for serving

Black Bean, Pomegranate and Avocado Salsa

            Appetizers are the only way to keep yourself and guests from suffering from lengthened hunger that could result in anger. This black bean, pomegranate and avocado salsa has a different taste to the typical salsa and the colors are naturally holiday themed.


Ingredients:     1.15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
2 cups pomegranate arils
1 small jalapeño, minced, seeds removed
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1 large avocado, diced
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Tortilla chips, for serving
