The year 2017 marks a decade since the iconic Disney Channel sparked up memorable television shows, movies and songs. The three most popular entertainment pieces of 2007 were Wizards Of Waverly Place, High School Musical 2, and “SOS” by the Jonas Brothers.

One of the most popular Disney Channel television series was Wizards of Waverly Place which aired on Oct. 12, 2007 and ran until Jan. 6, 2012. The show starred Selena Gomez, David Henrie and Jake T. Austin. There was a total of 106 episodes and an additional Disney Channel original movie, that they made based on the TV show. With a total of 10 million viewers, the series was a commercial success with young fans, especially with memorable episodes that crossed over with The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana. It continues with its legacy today as the longest-running TV show on the Disney Channel. With Selena Gomez’s sarcastic jokes and the romantic flings throughout the show, it was a major success in young fans.

As the sequel to the popular High School Musical, High School Musical 2 was the number one Disney Channel original movie of 2007. With the classic characters of Troy and Gabriella, the release of this movie was no doubt a success. With 17.2 million viewers on premiere night, it is the highest rated Disney Channel movie of all time. Alongside the memorable scenes from the movie, some famous soundtracks such as “What Time is it?” and “Fabulous” are imbedded in every kid’s head.

Lastly, the original “JB” topped the charts in 2007 with their hot single “SOS,” The Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, were one of the top guy bands of the 2000s and every young girl’s group of boys to crush on. A week after its release the song was at number 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The song was also a success in Germany, the U.K and Australia. Hopefully this will not burn you up, but “SOS” was sold 2 million times, making it one of the best selling songs of 2007.

Ten years later, the stars of these hits are still leaving legacies. Selena Gomez, now a full time singer has sold successful albums and is a influential woman. Some of her top albums were Stars Dance (2013) and Revival (2015). She has sold over seven million albums and 22 million singles worldwide. As for David Henrie, he remains in the movie industry, with an upcoming role in the movie Reagan. Zac Efron also remains in the movie industry, starring in 17 Again, Neighbors, and Baywatch. Nick and Joe Jonas entered the music industry as solo artists. Joe Jonas is the lead singer in the band DNCE and Nick Jonas sings solo and has had numerous best-selling songs such as “Chains.” He has acted in several films including Goat, alongside James Franco. Every kid who is in high school now remembers the good old Disney Channel days that held the best entertainment of their lives.
