What inspired you to teach chemistry and Advanced Placement Environmental Science?

I’ve always loved science. I was a research scientist before I became a teacher, and if I can help encourage students to love science as much as I do then I can go home with a smile on my face every day. I want to inspire kids with science and help them discover new things every day.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

My favorite part is interacting with the most amazing students at Plano West. My students are my favorite part of the day, and over the years I have become very close with them. My classes are always filled with laughter and fun which leaves me happy every day.

How long have you taught at West?

This year will be my 5th year at West.

How would you describe your relationship with your students?

I love my students. I look forward to coming to work every day to get to know them a little bit more each day.

What life lessons do you hope to teach your students?

Life is about the experiences we take with us every day. Even one person can still make a difference in the world. I want to teach my students that their thoughts matter and their voice matters and they can change the world if they want. In my APES class, I encourage them to use what they learned and bring forth change in topics like climate change.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I minored in French, too.
