Plano West was given another loss at the hands of the McKinney Lions last Friday at Clark Stadium, losing 17-12.
The low-scoring affair was full of several punts and turnovers, as neither team was able to find the end zone in the first quarter. Plano West struck first, with QB Danny Davis rushing for a one-yard touchdown with 5:14 remaining in the first half. Davis would throw for 82 yards and run for a total of 66. McKinney answered back with a touchdown of their own, with Lions’ RB Cordrick Dunn rushing in a one-yard touchdown. Dunn finished with 176 yards and one score. West was able to kick a field goal at the end of the first half to make the score 7-10 at halftime thanks to a strong Wolves’ offense.
McKinney kicked a 27-yard field goal in their second drive of the second half to tie the score at 10. Eight plays later (after a Plano West punt), McKinney QB Kelvin Thomas rushed for 42 yards for a touchdown, giving the Lions their first lead of the game. Plano West would later go on to recover a bad McKinney snap in their own end zone for a safety, making the score 17-12.
